An editorial project that delves into the history and transformation of bookbinding, tracing its journey from ancient manuscripts to contemporary design. Originating in the 2nd century AD, early bookbinding evolved from hand-sewn codices with wooden covers to the intricate gold-tooled designs of the Renaissance. The Industrial Revolution then introduced mechanized production, making books widely accessible.
Through typography, layout, and material exploration, this project visually narrates bookbinding’s past, present, and future, celebrating its role as both an art form and a vessel for knowledge.
